Patriot Day career fair for veterans, transitioning soldiers and families to be held Sept. 11

The second annual Patriot Day Career Fair will be held at the Junction City Municipal Building on Sept. 11. The career fair is open to the public, with a special focus on veterans, transitioning soldiers and their families. More than 40 employers will attend the job fair and conduct interviews. A mobile Workforce Center will be available for all patrons to use during the event for services such as applying for positions online and printing résumés.

“Those who serve in our military make many sacrifices for our country, and we owe them our support and gratitude for their service,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. “The Patriot Day Career Fair is a tremendous opportunity to help veterans and their family members find good jobs. That benefits veterans, the Kansas workforce and our state’s economy.”

The Patriot Day Career Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Junction City Municipal Building, 225 West 7th Street, Junction City, KS. The event is sponsored by the Junction City Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Commission, Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and the Junction City/Manhattan Workforce Centers.

Job seekers in the Junction City area who require assistance should contact the Junction City Workforce Center at (785) 762-8870 or the Manhattan Workforce Center at (758) 539-5691. Job seekers around the state can visit KANSASWORKS.com to learn more about services available and to find their nearest workforce centers.

Veterans can visit KanVet.KS.gov for complete information about employment and education resources available to them in the state of Kansas.
