The Golf Warehouse expands operations at its Wichita facility

Online golf retailer TGW.com—The Golf Warehouse announced today that the company will expand its operations in Wichita. The company, a division of Redcats, plans to hire an additional 24 full-time employees during 2011 and anticipates hiring 105 full-time workers over the next five years.

A significant portion of The Golf Warehouse’s product fulfillment is currently handled at a location in Indianapolis. All product fulfillment for the company will transition to Wichita by the end of August. The consolidation of the company’s golf, baseball, softball and soccer merchandise into one location will eliminate orders being shipped from two locations and improve customer service.

To house the significant increase in product, the company will lease additional warehouse space at 8908 E. 34th St. North in Wichita across the street from its current location. The building is 200,000 square feet. Initially, however, the company will only utilize 130,000 square feet. As a result of The Golf Warehouse's investment in Wichita, the Kansas Department of Commerce and Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition collaborated with the company to secure a performance-based incentive package that includes forgivable loans and reimbursement for training new and existing employees.

“Expanding our facility and adding staff is a strong commitment to the city of Wichita that this is our home and a place we see opportunity for continued growth,” said Brad Wolansky, chief executive officer of TGW.com—The Golf Warehouse. “TGW.com—The Golf Warehouse started as a small family-owned business in 1998 and has since grown to more than 200 employees that are actively part of our local community.”

“We are so pleased to keep and grow a national and international company, especially such a great one here in Wichita,” said Carl Brewer, mayor of Wichita. “Upon completion of their expansion, The Golf Warehouse will now have more than 300 employees, and we competed head-on to locate those jobs here.”

“Having The Golf Warehouse expand its operations in Kansas and add more than 100 new positions is great news for the company, Wichita and the state,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. “The Brownback Administration has made economic growth a top priority for the state, and I appreciate the company's commitment to grow in Kansas, and I wish them every success in the future.”

TGW.com—The Golf Warehouse offers golf equipment, golf shoes, apparel, accessories, personalized golf items and customized golf clubs. The Golf Warehouse also has three specialty websites: SoftballSavings.com, BaseballSavings.com and SoccerSavings.com. The company is part of Redcats USA, which is a Redcats company. Redcats (www.redcats.com) is a worldwide retailer for fashion and home furnishings with 17 European and U.S.-based brands in 31 countries. Redcats distribution network combines more than 70 e-commerce sites, nearly 600 stores and around 30 catalogues for 26 million customers. Redcats is a PPR Company.
