Gov. Brownback to visit Shawnee firm Bio-Microbics on Sept. 22

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback will tour Bio-Microbics, which won the Governor’s Exporter of the Year award earlier this summer, on Sept. 22.

International markets have been a core part of Bio-Microbics business from its founding. In 1996, before environmental products became popular, Bio-Microbics was founded to commercialize technology to treat wastewater and storm water run-off for water reuse in decentralized homes and communities. In 2011, the company actively markets in sixty countries, which account for 70 percent of Bio-Microbics sales. In the last three years, Bio-Microbics has introduced four new products, including membrane technology, to meet the increasing demands of providing onsite treatment for better management of global water supplies.

Kansas exported more than $9.93 billion in goods and services in 2010, more than 11 percent more than in 2009.

WHAT: Brownback tours Bio-Microbics and meets with company employees and executives along with international trade representatives from the Kansas City area.

WHO: In addition to Brownback, Dr. Raffaele DeVito, chairman of the Kansas International Trade Coordinating Council will attend, along with Linden Dalecki, associate chairman of the council. Company officials include Bob Rebori, president and CEO.
