Pittsburg will host an international trade networking event on April 18. This event is open to company owners and economic development officials who are interested in conducting international business. The event will give such participants an opportunity to network with active exporters and hear from federal and state officials about available resources.
WHAT: International trade networking event, sponsored by the Kansas Department of Commerce; city of Pittsburg; and the Kelce College of Business, Pittsburg State University. Supporting organizations include U.S. Commercial Service, Kansas City; Kansas International Trade Coordinating Council; and the U.S. Small Business Administration (USBA).
WHEN/WHERE: 8 a.m.-noon, April 18, in the Balkans Room, Overman Student Center, Pittsburg State University, 302 E. Cleveland Ave., Pittsburg, Kan. 66762.
PROGRAM INFORMATION: The program includes sessions on best practices for conducting business internationally and a primer on emerging markets, as well as finding and using state and federal resources. There also will be a panel and audience discussion. Speakers include company representatives from Tank Connection, a 2012 Governor’s Exporter of the Year finalist and Kansas Aviation, 2007-2008 Governor’s Exporter of the Year finalist. The Exporter of the Year award recognizes exceptional international marketing success and encourages growth of the state’s export markets.
Additional speakers will be Raffaele DeVito, professor of international business, Emporia State University; Roger Stuart, executive vice president, Held & Associates Inc.; and Nathalie Scharf, STEP Grant manager, Kansas Department of Commerce.
