Valent Aerostructures officially opens state-of-the-art Fredonia facility

Valent Aerostructures, which manufactures and supplies complex structural components and major sub-assemblies for leading airframe manufacturers throughout various aviation industries, officially opened its 50,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art building with a ribbon cutting ceremony May 31 in Fredonia. Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback and Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George joined officials from Valent and its associates in celebrating this expansion in southeast Kansas.

“I congratulate Valent Aerostructures on its continued commitment to Fredonia and rural Kansas,” said Gov. Sam Brownback. “The company has two facilities in small communities in our state and is actively recruiting the next generation of young leaders to live in and become an active part of these rural areas. Valent is an example of how a company can benefit from the advantages of rural Kansas.”

Valent Aerostructures is placing a foothold in Fredonia, in a move intended to strengthen its operational production, contribute to the Fredonia community and simultaneously bolster local, statewide and national aerospace businesses. Because the Fredonia community has continuously supported Valent, it seeks to reciprocate and enhance the relationship, by building a larger, customized facility poised for greater growth. Since acquiring the facility four years ago, Valent has added more than 70 employees, with plans to accelerate such expansion.

Quick facts about the new Valent Aerostructures Fredonia facility:
• The facility opened for production April 9, 2012.
• It took slightly more than five months, from site selection to opening day.
• Fredonia employees are producing machined parts used in Valent’s major assembly facility in Cottonwood Falls, as well as parts used on commercial and general aviation aircrafts.
• Ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony took place May 31, 2012.
