Anyone with an engineering background who is currently looking for work, or anyone interested in breaking into the engineering field, should plan to attend the KANSASWORKS Engineers’ Career and Resource Fair on June 12 in Wichita.
The state has launched a major effort to recruit and train more students into engineering jobs, as well as recruit experienced engineering professionals to fill open positions with companies across Kansas. The Brownback Administration and the Kansas Board of Regents have joined together to start the Keeping Kansas Competitive engineering expansion initiative. Over the next 10 years, the state plans to commit $35 million – with a dollar for dollar match from each of the state’s three university engineering programs – to grow the number of engineering graduates to 1,365 per year by 2021.
WHAT: Engineers’ Career and Resource Fair, sponsored by KANSASWORKS and the Workforce Centers of South Central Kansas.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet with companies with open positions, and individuals can learn about advanced skill development opportunities as well.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Job seekers do not need to register to participate in this event, but they should dress appropriately for job interviews and bring several copies of their resumes. Staff also will be on hand to answer questions about resume and interviewing preparation.
Companies participating in the fair are Koch Industries, Coleman Co., Bombardier Learjet, Grain Belt Supply Company Inc., Collins Bus, Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, and CVR Energy, among others.
