Gov. Brownback to visit Pittsburg firm Pitsco on Sept. 10

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback will tour Pitsco Education, which won the Governor’s Exporter of the Year award earlier this summer, on Sept. 10.

Pitsco started in 1971 and exports education products related to science, technology, engineering and math to more than 35 countries around the world. Over the past three years, Pitsco has introduced more than 20 products to meet the needs of international customers.

Exporting in Kansas reached the second highest level on record in 2011, rising to $11.57 billion.

WHAT: Brownback tours Pitsco Education and meets with company employees and executives along with international trade representatives from the area.

WHO: In addition to Brownback, Dr. Raffaele DeVito, chairman of the Kansas International Trade Coordinating Council will attend, along with John Watson, the Department’s Trade Division director. Company officials include Dr. Harvey Dean, president and CEO.

WHEN/WHERE: The tour goes from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Sept. 10. Pitsco is located at 915 E. Jefferson, Pittsburg, Kan. 66762.
