Creative Arts Industries Commission expands application opportunities

The Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (KCAIC) has announced that it will expand opportunities to apply for grants. The KCAIC has created an additional April 11 deadline to apply for two programs and has updated the application guidelines for the Strategic Investment Program and Arts Integration Program.

Updates to the program guidelines for the Strategic Investment Program and Arts Integration Program include:

• A sliding match scale will allow smaller communities to count in-kind donations as a greater share of matching funds. Organizations in communities with 5,000 or fewer residents may have in-kind donations count for up to 75 percent of the matching requirement, while organizations in communities with 2,500 or fewer residents may use in-kind donations to count for 100 percent of the match.

• Organizations may submit multiple applications under both programs. However, additional applications for organizations that have already received an award under these programs within a given fiscal year will only be reviewed and considered during the final grant round. Applicants may not receive multiple awards for the same project.

In addition to these updates, an Innovative Partnership category has been added to the Arts Integration Program. This category will encourage programming between arts organizations and other entities within a community, such as hospitals and prisons. The objective of the Innovative Partnership category is to support various aspects of community development including public health, corrections, economic development and tourism.
