Attractions and Recreation

Marion county has several outdoor opportunities for its residents and visitors. Marion County Park and Lake is a county owned lake that offers fishing, boating, camping and swimming. Marion Reservoir is a 6,000 acre reservoir that offers crappie and walleye fishing. The county also has four golf courses and the Santa Fe Trail crosses through the county. There are also many hunting options for those interested in hunting, from deer to upland game birds.

For those interested in museums and history, Marion county has many historic buildings and museums. The Peter Paul Loewen House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a traditional Russian clay brick house built in 1876. The house features handmade Russian Mennonite furniture and is the last house of its kind in North America.
