Attractions and Recreation

Keith Sebelius Reservoir and Prairie Dog State Park encompass more than 1,150 acres and are home to a thriving prairie dog colony and the last remaining adobe house in Kansas. The beautiful lake has great fishing, boating, skiing, camping and a sand beach. Hunting and camping are also allowed within the adjacent Norton Wildlife Area. This is also the site of the tremendous Fourth of July fireworks display.

Norton County has several offerings for the outdoor enthusiast. Known as “The Pheasant Capital of Kansas,” pheasant hunting is abundant, but there is much more available for the avid hunter. Deer and turkey are numerous in the region, as well as several species of waterfowl. Whether hunting with bow or firearms, the terrain and mild weather makes for a memorable experience. The county is also home to Prairie Dog Golf Club. This public, nine-hole course offers snacks and a swimming pool at the clubhouse.

They Also Ran Gallery is a unique gallery featuring pictures of unsuccessful candidates for presidents from Thomas Jefferson to John McCain. The Norton County Museum offers a look back at life in Norton County.
