Attractions and Recreation

Rooks County has a very diverse array of recreational and historical attractions.  The county is home to Webster State Park & Reservoir.  This 3,780 acre lake is located seven miles west of Stockton and offers fishing, hiking, camping and more.  The county also has two other fishing lakes – Rooks County State Lake, and Plainville Township Lake that offer excellent fishing opportunities.

The Frank Walker Museum in Stockton is home to numerous exhibits from the history of the county.  Rooks county also has two nine-hole golf courses. Between Plainville and Stockton is a 9-hole grass green golf course (Cedar Links), and near Palco is a 9-hole sand green course.  Find out more about many other historical attractions, such as St. Joseph’s Church in Damar and the Nova Theatre in Stockton here.
